Spanish researchers and academics have stressed that the International Conference on the Return of Syrian Refugees, recently held in Damascus, has unveiled the true image of the West as well as its lies and complicity in the war on Syria.
Angela Diaz. a researcher in political and psychological sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, said that the European Union in general, and Spain in particular, have committed a grave mistake by not participating in this conference, indicating that the absence of the European Union reveals that it does not have an independent foreign policy and this proves its subordination to the US administration’s agenda, especially with regard to the Middle East.
“The European absence reveals the complicity of European countries in the war on Syria through launching propaganda against the country and funding terrorist organizations such as the so-called “White Helmets” to use them in attacks with the aim of distorting the image of the legitimate Syrian government.
Professor Asier Blas Mendoza, from the Political Science Department of University of the Basque Country in Spain, said that the non-participation of the European Union and the United States in this conference proves the West’s lack of interest in the issue of refugees and their return to their homeland, Syria. He pointed out that although the refugee issue was at the top of the political and social agenda of the European Union, it appeared later that it was just theories and imaginary slogans.
On his part, Alberto Montaner Frutos, a Professor of Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Zaragoza, affirmed that holding the conference is very important to encourage the Syrian refugees to return home, adding that the non-participation of the European Union in this international conference comes within the American policy of supporting extremist terrorist organizations backed by some of the regimes in the region to fight the Syrian people and government.Spanish Academics: Western countries’ boycott of the international conference on Syrian refugees revealed their complicity in the war on Syria
